Came across this sign during a security survey at a client’s facility today. What a great example of CPTED Territorial Reinforcement.
For those that don’t know about the concept. Crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) is a concept that has been around since the 1960s and relates to the design of a site, building or area to provide security through four main strategies:
- Natural Surveillance (Use of Glass, Open Spaces, Lighting)
- Natural Access Control (Landscaping, Water Features)
- Territorial Reinforcement (Signage, Fencing)
- Maintenance (Broken Window Concept)
It is a very important concept for anyone wanting to improve security at a building or site and shows that security solutions dont always need to involve technology.
I wonder what detterent factor this has created for the site….
