5 Elevator Access Control Design Tips

Elevator access control design is always a challenge and should should be considered during the early stages of the project. 

This poster above highlights some design tips from our project experience. 

This includes ordering suitable trailing cables, deciding where the access controller box will be located, planning the reader mounting inside the elevator or deciding to have the reader on the outside of the elevator in the lift lobby.

Tailgating is also a concern but difficult to mitigate without an access control lift lobby. Architects should be encouraged to construct suitable access control lobbies as. Lastly maintenance of the system moving forward is critical. How will the security technician get access to the equipment mounted on the elevator lift car as example.
